* Breaking Bad *and* Curb Your Enthusiasm tonight. I’m in TV heaven.

Former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks was arrested Sunday in connection with British police investigations into phone hacking and police bribery, her spokesman told CNN. And there’s more: Ed Miliband has demanded the breakup of Rupert Murdoch’s UK media empire in a dramatic intervention in the row over phone hacking. UPDATE: And the head of Scotland Yard has now resigned.

* Class struggle: 11 states receive more in lottery revenues than they do in corporate taxes.

* Twitter Mona Lisa. Via zunguzungu’s always wonderful Sunday reading.

* Scadenfreudelicious: Sarah Palin hagiography The Undefeated currently has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

* Local color: Scenes from the pun contest at the Regulator Bookshop.

* And from Al Jazera: “Mass psychosis in the US: How Big Pharma got Americans hooked on anti-psychotic drugs.”

* Support for renewable energy technology to fight global warming is weakening in the face of worldwide economic problems and the true scale of the carbon reductions required, a survey published today has suggested.

Figures presented at the UN climate talks in Poznan, Poland, show that climate experts have less faith in alternative energy than they did 12 months ago.

* Grist reviews 2008’s most essential book on shit.

* DFW’s last book will be published next year, based off the Kenyon College commence speech he gave in 2005. Devotees may recall that this speech was the basis for my MetaFilter obit post.

* Everyone’s in love with this evolved Mona Lisa. More evolution fun at Pharyngula and MetaFilter.

* Everyone’s in love with Macs.

* Don’t miss Metallica’s latest music video, a prophecy of zombie disaster originating with the Tungska Event.

Reaction Jackson Tuesday:

* Steve says my picture of the Mona Lisa puts him in mind of this YouTube video of five hundred years of female portraits in 2 minutes.

*Shankar links in the comments to David Cross’s Open Letter to Larry the Cable Guy.

* Everyone in the world is talking about the creation mususem.

* Warning: soft drinks are seriously bad for you. I’m two months dry (de-fizzed?) and I’m starting to not miss the delicious taste… all that much. The first time I stopped drinking soda I went nine months before I relapsed, and I’ve bounced six-months-on, six-months-off since then—but this time I want to stay off the stuff for good.

No posting today on account of our second wedding anniversary. (Just nine years left till Jaimee has to buy me a sword.) In honor of the occasion, this week’s blog icon is a picture of the Mona Lisa from our honeymoon, my favorite shot from the whole trip. Also, I’ve put up a few some never-before-Flickr’d photographs from our wedding—none of which show me crying like a big baby.

See you Tuesday.
