this is kind of hilarious. i tutored SAT for a long time, and what he describes on the essay question is basically what i told students to do: pick three examples that can be shaped to answer ANY question. (i usually encouraged them to do one from lit, one from current events or science, and one from their personal lives, to be written in that order.) almost everyone’s scores went up 100-200 points with this technique. it is by far the EASIEST section to be coached on and improve your score on.

That’s the one I kept pointing to to show it’s “more than just a joke.” That’s exactly what’s wrong with SAT-style essay evaluation…
