Wow, This Seems Like It Could Be Really… Oh.

Has a great premise ever been so badly squandered? My heart sank when I realized what this was actually for.

  1. yeah, except the Apollo 11 astronauts were never on the far side of the moon because the the same side of the moon always faces the Earth. From Houston’s perspective, it doesn’t rotate. The premise id ridonkulous just for that.

  2. Yeah, I noticed that, but I was thinking the trajectory went like this:

    * Apollo 11 launches 21 minutes early, but the tape for the networks is delayed.
    * Apollo 11 goes around the far side of the Moon and lands.
    * Apollo 11 lands 21 minutes early, just as the networks are playing the start of the “far side of the Moon” footage.
    * The networks “catch up” to the live footage as the astronauts make their way back from the corpse of Unicron.

Unfortunately, I think Apollo 11 didn’t actually go around the far side of the Moon before the Eagle landed, so my fanwank fails…
