The critical flaw of accountability-based reforms lies in their view of teachers as machines capable of more or less effectively cultivating student learning. Any roadmap for meaningful resistance, then, must think beyond the paradigm that predicates all activity on the teacher. It must instead imagine a movement that swells organically from the ground — that is, from the student.
