A friend of mine is a movie critic. He has generally echoed the worry found in the several hours of twitter unhappiness, but recently said that all seems a little better if he thinks of The Hobbit movies as LOTR for kids.
I don’t think it’s just a matter lowering expectations to a kids movie. It’s… well, yeah, that’s exactly what it is, but it still might help.
