* What made that sentence so amazing was that it basically amounts to a report that the U.S. first kills people with drones, then fires on the rescuers and others who arrive at the scene where the new corpses and injured victims lie.

The student loan debt bomb link is timely — I just advised my brother to file for bankruptcy mostly to deal with his student loan. The link you pointed to says it is “almost impossible” to discharge student loan debt through a bankruptcy proceeding, but I don’t think that’s true. You just have to prove that repaying the loan would be an “undue hardship”. For my brother, who makes minimum wage (when he has a job at all) and also has to pay child support, the $34k he owes on his defaulted loan is clearly unmanageable.
I’ve also read some stories recently about attempts to change the law to remove the protected status from student loan debt, so it would be treated as it was pre-1998. Makes sense to me. I am not sure how this ever got changed originally, or what the rationale was.

Not to pry, but has your brother actually received the hardship dispensation? My understanding is that it’s almost impossible to get in practice.
